RETREAT

An annual tradition.

Every year, UCMUNT holds a weekend retreat for new and returning members to refine their skills in Model UN. As per tradition, UCMUNT Retreats are held in a forest cabin near the Foothills of central Alberta. It's an great opportunity to meet the team, gain valuable debating knowledge, and make life-long friendships.

INFO

FAQ: I CAN'T MAKE

THE RETREAT

All new UCMUNT members must attend a mandatory training session in order to become part of the team. The Retreat serves as an intensive training session where members can get hands on experience on MUN-style debate.

If you can't make the Retreat, don't worry! UCMUNT will provide alternative training sessions on campus. Session dates will be provided through email.

ACCOMMODATONS

We will be staying at Bearberry Cabins. Each cabin features a bed with beddings and a blanket, a functional bathroom and shower, a kitchen or a kitchenette, and are fully heated. Despite this, the location is still in the forest. Members are encouraged to bring extra blankets, pillows, and other beddings according to the weather. UCMUNT will not be responsible for personal toiletries. Therefore, it is highly encouraged that members bring their own toiletries.

FOOd

UCMUNT will be providing members with meals and snacks throughout the weekend. This is largely covered by membership fees. We will do our best to accommodate everyone.

It is important that members who have food allergies or health, lifestyle, or religious dietary restrictions, that they must inform the Team before Retreat.

FAQ: Can I Bring Alcohol

Yes, however we have some restrictions. UCMUNT WILL NOT BE PROVIDING ALCOHOL.

Members who wish to use alcohol must provide for themselves. According to Provincial Law, alcohol and cannabis usage is restricted to those who are 18 years old and above. We will restrict exposure to any underaged member attending the Retreat. We will have specific times and designated locations where such activities can take place. We will stop delegates who abuse alcohol during the Retreat.

transport

To keep costs low, we will not be providing official transport to the location. Instead, we will be convoying members with personal vehicles to the location. For this to happen, we ask that members who own a vehicle and are going to the Retreat, to volunteer their vehicle to convoy other members. Transportation arrangements will be coordinated by UCMUNT.

The driver and the passengers of the vehicle are responsible for arranging reimbursements for gasoline.
